The white Nokia Lumia 800 arrives in UK / INDIA !

And where else? The Nokia Lumia Momentum Map shows you the availability of all Nokia Lumias

White Nokia Lumia 800 back

Only two months ago, we shared news that the Nokia Lumia was spreading around the world, and we did this using the Nokia Lumia Momentum Map. Today, we take another look at that map to see what’s changed. Quite a lot, it seems.

In January, there were three Nokia Lumia smartphones announced, now in March, that count rises to four. But what good is it launching a new phone if people can’t get their hands on it?

Well, at the time the map was published, Nokia Lumia was only available in 13 markets. Now, just two months later, it’s available in 35 different markets around the world. With more being added all the time.

Nokia Lumia Momentum Map March

As for the apps available for your Nokia Lumia smartphone, that’s increasing way beyond 65,000. That will continue to rise as people begin to port apps to Windows Phone or as more people try to make millions becoming a game developer.

A key part of getting these phones out there and helping this momentum map to grow are the mobile operators. After all, they actually help put the Nokia Lumias into people’s pockets. The number of mobile operators now selling the Nokia Lumia is over 60, compared to 40 in Jan.

Last weekend I popped into Nokia R&D, The Strand Road, Noida to see if they had the white Nokia Lumia 800. Fortunately, they’d just received stock of them – exclusively before any other retailer.

After seeing the display model – and weeks of me playing with my black Nokia Lumia 800 – my partner decided that she’d upgrade her contract and go for the white Nokia Lumia 800. Now, she hasn’t upgraded in about five years, so, it’s unusual for her to want to change her phone. But she was compelled to buy it. The first one off the pallet, in fact.

And I can see why. The white Nokia Lumia 800 looks smart and unique. Its glossy white finish is, as the salesman puts it:

“Reminiscent of a Porsche Cayenne.”

I gracefully nod as if to say I know exactly what he means. Which I don’t. But after having Binged it, I can see it does have that same, expensive, highly-polished look.

All about our biggest, thinnest smartphone.

Exclusive to AT&T in the USA

If you’re looking to purchase a Nokia Lumia phone in your part of the world, the Nokia Lumia Momentum Map is a great way of keeping up-to-date with where it’s landed. The map also shows you launch events, tweets and photos all related to all available Nokia Lumia models.

NOKIA TO EXIT MOBILE MONEY BUSINESS Soon !

Nokia has decided to close down its mobile money financial service in India. The move is in line with the company’s global strategy to move out of non-core areas and to focus on its mobile phone business with the aim of connecting the “Next Billion” people to the internet in developing countries.

“Nokia had launched mobile money in 2010 through a partnership with YES Bank. Subsequently, it signed up with Union Bank to offer services such as bill payments and money transfer.

It had also launched the service independently under the Nokia Money brand which has about 2 lakh subscribers. In total, there are about 1.2 million subscribers using the Nokia service across all three platforms. Apart from India, Nokia had launched the service, based on Obopay’s mobile payment platform, in other countries, including Pakistan.

The immediate impact will be on the two lakh Nokia Money subscribers. According to sources, information to these subscribers to use up the money deposited in the mobile money account will be sent starting March 15.

Nokia will continue the service for 3-4 months to give enough time for subscribers to use up the money.”

Get to Know How Nokia 808 PureView technology truly work? (A camera lovers Edition)?!

The Nokia 808 PureView camera technology has taken five years to develop and is set to change the way we view smartphone camera technology forever, But what exactly is it and how does it work? Read on and find out how the Nokia 808 PureView camera technology works.

The Nokia 808 PureView is a 4-inch smartphone running the Nokia Belle operating system that comes with a Feature Pack 1 update, so you’ll find even more tweaks and system smoothing features than ever before.

However, what has to be the biggest selling point of the Nokia 808 PureView is quite simply the 41-megapixel camera that comes with an amazing new technology called PreView. Now, we’re not camera experts here at My Nokia Tweet, we’re just great fans of design and innovation so we’re not even going to try and get into the nitty gritty of what PureView is.

Thankfully Nokia has come to the rescue with this handy Nokia PureView technology PDF that is free to download and gives you all the salient facts. If you’re looking for a quick and easy breakdown, then PureView is defined as:

The Nokia PureView imaging technology is the combination of a large, super high resolution 41-megapixel with high performance Carl Zeiss optics. The large sensor enables pixel oversampling, which means the combination of many pixels into one perfect pixel.

Pixel oversampling uses multiple pixels to create a single (super) pixel, so you get to keep virtually all the detail by shedding away visual noise from the image. The speckled, grainy look you tend to get in low-lighting conditions is greatly reduced. And in good light, visual noise is virtually non-existent. The level of pixel oversampling is highest when you’re not using the zoom. It gradually decreases until you hit maximum zoom, where there is no oversampling.

Even if you’re simply curious as to how Nokia tech-heads managed to make the huge leap in terms of camera technology then it’s well worth having a read, you can be sure the camera boffins out there already have!

Top 5 games the Nokia Lumia 900 is perfect for ! (Play them soon) ?

A few days ago we asked whether the Nokia Lumia 900 was the ultimate gaming smartphone. Here are some of the reasons why it will certainly be the top gaming phone in the Nokia range – five games that will be at their best on the new 4.3-inch smartphone.

Top 5 apps the Nokia Lumia 900 is perfect for

Of course, there are far more than five games that will be perfectly suited to the Nokia Lumia 900′s 4.3-inch AMOLED display. In fact, it could well be the case that every game on the Windows Phone Marketplace plays better on the new phone!

However, these three games will work particularly well on the Nokia Lumia 900′s larger form factor. Let’s take a closer look.

ilomilo

We mention ilomilo a lot on My Nokia Tweet, though we’ve never reviewed it because it was released well before Nokia first adopted the Windows Phone OS as their own. We’ve played it loads though, and it’s ace. The goal is to reunite two little creatures called ilo and milo across a number of physics-defying puzzle-based levels.

While it plays brilliantly, it’s the console-standard visuals that really mark ilomilo out at something special, and there’s no better screen to show these off than the Nokia Lumia 900′s 4.3-inch display. As it’s AMOLED, the game’s vibrant colours will really pop, too.

BulletAsylum

While we grew a little tired of BulletAsylum’s relentlessly shallow gameplay, there’s no doubting that it’s one of the best games on the Marketplace for sheer sensory overload spectacle. You take control of a series of gun emplacements, all ready to open fire wherever you touch your finger on the screen. Actually, that should be fingers, as you can split your fire in two with a second digit. You’ll need to divide you attention too, as the sheer weight of enemies thrown against you is amazing. All this is rendered in gorgeous neon-soaked visuals that are just begging for a large 4.3-inch screen to play on. (Review)

DoDonPachi Maximum

Our review for DoDonPachi Maximum is incoming – suffice to say it’s very good indeed. It’s a 2D shoot ‘em up, but with the emphasis placed on tiptoeing through dense clusters of slow-moving enemy bullets rather than just blasting everything that moves (though there’s plenty of that as well). Indeed, the screen gets so busy that we reckon having the larger Nokia Lumia 900 display could be a real advantage – especially when your finger has to be in contact with (and thus partially covering) the screen at all times.

Plants vs Zombies

This was one of the cross-platform giants Windows Phone owners were crying out for before it hit the market – which it did just before Nokia arrived on the scene with the Nokia Lumia 800! If it played well on that phone, it’ll be even better on the Nokia Lumia 900. It’s a so-called ‘tower defence’ game in which you must defend your house against successive waves of zombie attacks. It’s the way this plays out – on a single static screen affording you an overview of the action – will make it the perfect fit for the Lumia 900′s bigger screen. (Review)

Sonic 4 Episode 1

It’s very tough to get a fast-paced platform game to work well on a touchscreen smartphone – and they don’t come any faster than Sonic. This is a faithful version of the modern console reinvention starring the most popular blue hedgehog in the world, but it can be a little tricky to play on a smaller screen. What it needs is something a little larger, that will make the virtual D-pad that bit more manageable and your view of the speedy action that much clearer. What it needs is the Nokia Lumia 900!

Any other games the Nokia Lumia 900 will clearly improve? Let us know in the Comments section below.
