Nokia VP says Windows Phone Apollo coming ‘middle of next year’

Nokia Keeper apparently managed to get confirmation about when the next Windows Phone Update, codenamed Apollo, is coming to devices. And that would be the ‘middle of next year.’

Michael Halbherr, Nokia’s Executive VP for Location and Commerce, told engadget that Apollo will be available for devices in mid-2012 and be a “very different game” compared to Mango, which might be a hint to Windows Phone 8 instead of just a WP 7.6 update.

Not much is known about Apollo at this point but apparently Nokia has been pushing Microsoft to include NFC integration and a “positioning framework” so that it works better with Nokia’s navteq mapping platform for location-based services.
