Nokia Asha 201 versus Nokia C3 Hands-On Photo Comparison! (Howz our logo) ??

We’ve been playing with a brand new Nokia Asha 201- the latest Series 40 QWERTY phone. By coincidence, we happen to have a Nokia C3, too. The Nokia C3, another Series 40 phone built for those that love to text, email and generally keep in touch. Here we take a look at the Nokia Asha 201 and Nokia C3 side-by-side.

Nokia Asha 201 tech specs and official photos

The Nokia Asha 201 and and Nokia E6 are two Series 40 QWERTY devices aimed at those that love nothing better than sending instant messages, texts and emails. Both look similar, but there are many subtle differences.

Both are well designed in their own right. On first glance the Nokia Asha 201 if anything looks like a more playful version of the Nokia C3. Its curves feel great in the hand and somehow make it feel and look smaller than it is.

By comparison the two-toned Nokia C3  has a very functional look about it, although it does look slightly more high-end, owing to its busier design. Both feel solid, and light at the same time. The Nokia C3 weighs 114 grams, with the Nokia Asha 201 weighing only slightly less at 105 grams.

Lets get straight to that QWERTY keypad. One of the first things you’ll notice is the bigger keys of the Nokia C3. The spacebar on the Nokia C3 is also larger, giving you that little more space to type on.The Nokia Asha 201 has pretty much the same keypad, bar the size difference, but is perhaps unsuited to those with larger fingers.

Above the QWERTY keypad the Nokia Asha 201 and Nokia C3 have menu buttons with shortcuts for accepting and ending calls, mail and browser, and the navigational D-pad. The main difference here is the confirm and back keys on the left and right side. On the Nokia Asha 201 these are vertical. On the Nokia C3, they are horizontal. If we’re being honest we prefer the latter, which in use are easier to press when needed.

The screens of both the Nokia Asha 201 and Nokia C3 won’t amaze anybody, but they perform well: displaying bright colours, and menus that are easy to read. Although web browsing tends to take a hit on a screen so small. But we can’t hold that against either handset too much. Both are entry level handsets more suited to those that simply want to stay in touch than view films and play games.

Elsewhere there isn’t a lot to set the two apart. Connectivity ports and memory card slots are well protected, and both have 3.5mm headphone jacks for which to securely insert a pair of headphones.

The Nokia Asha 201 and Nokia C3 are both good phones that serve their purpose well, are nicely designed and offer some of the functionality you’ll find on pricier smartphones.
