Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1 hands-on: How to use Twitter

Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1 landed last week for Nokia 603, Nokia 700 and the Nokia 701. The new update gives each handset lots of new features including more widgets. Here we take a look at the new Twitter widget and how to use it on your Nokia 700.

Hands-on with Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1 update for Nokia 700, Nokia 701, Nokia 603

Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1 adds even more functionality to Nokia 603, Nokia 700 and Nokia 701 Nokia Belle phones. New additions include a speed boost from 1.0GHz to 1.3GHz, a better web browser and more widgets to place on each of your homescreens.

Of the new widgets the new standalone Twitter widget is one of our favourites. When placed on the homescreen it lets you compose new tweets, dive into your Twitter profile, Direct Messages and Twitter trends at the touch of a button.

It’s a much handier option than using the default Social widget. Here’s how to get it on your homescreen and get tweeting.

First hold down on the homescreen and select ‘Add widget’. Then scroll down until you see the Twitter widget. Widgets are alphabetically listed, so are easy to find. Then simply tap on the widget to add it.

Once you’ve added it, it’s time to get Tweeting. The widget takes the form of a black bar with four icons: a bird, a pencil, an envelope and a magnifying glass.

Tapping the bird takes you directly into your Timeline. The pencil icon takes you straight to the text entry box to compose a tweet. The envelope to your private messages, and the magnifying glass to Twitter trends. These are the topics that are most commonly being discussed on Twitter at that moment in time.

Each of the above options are shortcuts letting you perform each function in one press. For a fuller experience you can access each of these options from your Timeline.

In the Timeline you simply drag your finger up and down to view tweets from those you follow. Don’t forget to hit the menu button on the bottom right of the display, and then refresh to see new messages from those you follow.

As you can see, using the new Twitter widget is easy, and more convenient than the default social app. Take a look at our photos and our gallery and give it a try.
